‘Daffodils’ Motion Graphic

The project was to create a motion graphic with sounds and visuals for National Poetry Day. The theme was “Truth” and I chose to base the project on the poem “Daffodils” by William Wordsworth. Through my personal analysis of the poem, I found that it narrated the poet having an intense dream and suddenly waking up to reality.

The motion graphic was created on Adobe After Effects. The entire composition is an abstract representation of the poet's dream which is displayed by the warping and colour changing orb, this technique was heavily inspired by The Boyle Family Projections. The poem is narrated with slow transitioning typography surrounded by contemporary white space. You can see the colourful orb moving and developing in cohesion with the happenings of the poem. As the dream intensifies, the orb's behavior becomes more erratic and it expands before finally exploding as the dreamer wakes up from the deep sleep. The dreamer is now completely awake and aware that they are back to their reality, but they fondly remember the fantasy as the visuals fade away into nothing.
