Festival of ScotlanD’s Stories

The instructions of this brief were to create a campaign, branding, and other promotional materials for the ‘Festival of Scotland’s Stories’, which would be on show at the DCA. The chosen theme was Scottish myths and legends.

Contemporary branding was made by arranging the initials of the festival (FSS) around the title using a traditional serif font which is known for it's prominence in old story books. I fully illustrated the graphics using digital and traditional techniques, all collaged together to create modern visuals. The techniques used include drawing, digital painting and vector graphics. Each illustration represents a Scottish story using the characters and the landscapes which they roamed in, they also have their own colour scheme which runs throughout the branding.

A concept for window vinyls was also created with the intention of being displayed on the large outer windows of the Dundee Contemporary Arts Centre, alongside a hanging wall installation which showcases the text so viewers can read the infamous stories for themselves. The final designs were added to promotional materials, including craft beer bottles and pop-up invitations for the opening night.
